Position Title: English Pastor

Reports to: Elder-Deacon Board

Position Overview:

The English Pastor will lead the English ministry, providing spiritual leadership, care, and discipleship to the English-speaking members of the congregation. This includes young professionals, college students, and the local community. The role will collaborate with the other pastors on teaching, evangelism, and pastoral care in alignment with the church's vision and mission.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Leadership and Ministry Development:

    Lead and oversee all ministries for English-speaking congregants.

    Collaborate with the Children’s Ministry Director and Youth Pastor to encourage and equip youth for service in various church ministries, including Worship and Children’s Ministries.

    Identify, mentor, and disciple ministry leaders from the English congregation.

    Collaborate with pastors on cross-language and cross-age ministries, including administering the Lord’s Supper and Baptism.

Address and resolve conflicts within the congregation using Biblical teachings on resolution.

2. Teaching, Preaching, and Spiritual Formation:

    Preach regularly during Sunday worship services.

    Teach Sunday School classes, small groups, and conduct ministry training to equip the congregation.

    Develop, in collaboration with all pastors, an annual unified plan for preaching and teaching as well as ministry plans and objectives annually, aligning with the church’s overall mission and vision.

Guard against false teachings by ensuring Biblical integrity across all church activities and programs.

3. Pastoral Care and Discipleship:

    Provide spiritual care, shepherding, and discipleship primarily to the English-speaking members of the congregation.

    Conduct visitations to families, fellowships, and individuals in need.

    Welcome and provide care for visitors and newcomers, offering spiritual encouragement and guidance.

    Provide counseling rooted in Biblical truth and principles and Christian faith as needed.

Model family discipleship by working closely with other pastors to foster spiritual growth within households.

4. Missions and Evangelism:

    Lead and plan evangelistic missions and outreach strategies targeting the local community.

    Model evangelism and train others in effective outreach methods.

Promote the church’s global mission efforts, equipping the congregation to engage in missions and evangelistic work.

5. Administration:

    Provide regular updates and reports on the English ministry to the Elder-Deacon Board.

Participate in Elder-Deacon Board meetings, contributing to productive discussions and decision-making.

Qualifications:

    Fulfill the qualifications outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.

    A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ, displaying a Christ-like character and adherence to Biblical principles.

    Must hold the conviction that the Bible is the inerrant, infallible Word of God.

    Must accept the PCC’s statement of faith as well as the Apostles’ Creed, Nicene Creed, and Athanasius Creed.

    A seminary degree (MDiv or equivalent) from an accredited institution.

    Minimum 3 years of pastoral experience.

    Preferably in a Chinese cultural or multi-generational church setting.

    Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a heart for pastoral care and discipleship.

Ability to work on individual tasks as part of a collective team.
